• Contemporary houseboat offers green and luxurious housing in Germany

Eco Factor: Wooden houseboat to provide permanent residences on water. The very thought of living in a houseboat leaves me enthralled. The whole experience of being surrounded by clean water, while enjoying magnificent view, comfort and luxury is just larger than life. Offering you the same experience in the lap of nature, Rost Niderehe Architects have designed a houseboat on the Eilbekkanal in Hamburg, Germany. Combining the comfort of a traditional family home with the character of a boat, the stunning houseboat features great woodwork and steel work that enhances the aesthetics. It follows both the naval architecture as well as normal building design. Floating over the cool water of the Eilbek-canal, the contemporary houseboat features rooms for public use on the outside kitchen, dining room and private use on the inside bedroom, bathroom. This project is a new beginning for offering permanent residences on water. The architects claim that it is Germanys first settlement on water. This new generation of houseboat has recently been completed and is all set to welcome the inhabitants to live amidst the serene beauty. Via: Contemporist

  • Federer beats the heat, Beck; Soderling looms

NEW YORK - Roger Federer is one cool customer. The temperature climbed into the 90s yet again Thursday at Flushing Meadows, and the guy showed up for work wearing a warmup jacket. Then he put in his 1 hour, 41 minutes on court, dismissing 104th-ranked Andreas Beck of Germany 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 with the help of 15 aces, to ease into the third round of the U.S. Open."It's about just saving your energy for the really big match coming up, maybe the next one," Federer said, perhaps mindful that he was pushed to five sets in the opening round at Wimbledon in June before eventually losing in the quarterfinals at a second consecutive major tournament. He dropped all of seven games in the first round of the U.S. Open, and the owner of a record 16 Grand Slam titles is feeling pretty good about things at the moment."It's the perfect start, sure. I played Monday; had two days off. I had another easy one physically today, and here I am in the third round feelingCopyright 2010 Tahoe Daily Tribune. All rights reserved.
